Ann Rachlin’s talk, given in October 2013, is now available to watch for free.

Created and presented by the world famous music educator Ann Rachlin, this is an SCR Talk with a difference! In addition to the speaker and slides, for the first time ever the Grey College Choir will be taking part, performing eight of the most popular and well-loved songs by the great American song writer IRVING BERLIN.

It is the fascinating story of how a poor immigrant arrived in the United States from Russia aged 8 years and by the time he was 23 was a millionaire. I am sure that you know that Irving Berlin wrote some of the best loved songs of all time. But did you know that he lived to be 101 and could only play the piano on the black keys? He could not read or write music.

Ann Rachlin is a riveting storyteller who brings this incredible story to life with images and a vintage video to add to our enjoyment. If you are unable to attend, you can see it "live" or watch it later at home. Thanks to the generosity of one of our Alumni, this video is available free of charge!
